Merrill, Wis. (WAOW) -- Council Grounds State Park is hosting its 6th annual photo contest this month.
Any amatuer photog, or nature lover with a camera is welcomed to enter into the contest.
There are four categories for pictures -- plants -- like close ups of wildflowers and trees.
Wildlife -- catch a gopher in action, or maybe a bumble-bee or bird people enjoying the park.
And landscapes -- sunsets, river shots or for the early risers -- a sunrise.
The winners pictures will be debut in things like brochures, state park websites, postcards and magazines. They will also receive a 2021 state park admissions sticker for their acheivement,
Friends of Council Grounds State Park group states that wildlife pictures are often left out because they are harder to get, but they highly encourage snapping a pic of a gopher or two. There is even a bear that is known to wander, and they hear he's looking for new headshots.
It is important to note that this contest is for all ages, and any pictures at Council Grounds taken in the last two years is eligible to be entered.
Contest ends July 31st.
The idea behind the contest is to get nature lovers and families alike outdoors -- to the state park in their backyards.
