For this week's segment of Garden Goodies, Justin Loew used an herb from his garden that he has never grown in his garden before!
Dill is an herb related to celery that is most commonly used in pickles and potato salads. It has a unique flavor among herbs and is hard to describe but easy to recognize. The great thing about growing dill is that it will re-seed itself and grow year after year, so once you have a spot picked out in your backyard or garden, you should be able to enjoy dill each year without too much maintenance.
This week Justin made a simple dill sauce with finely chopped fresh dill, Dijon mustard, real mayonnaise, and fresh squeezed lemon juice. This type of sauce is commonly served on fish such as salmon.
Justin served this sauce to the Wake-Up Wisconsin crew on fish that he caught (northern pike and bass).
