WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) -- People's State Bank of Wausau presented a $13,000 check to the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin in partnership with the United Way of Marathon County. The check will go toward the COVID-19 relief funds.
More than 75% of People's State Bank's employees donated an hour or more of their pay, which was matched by the bank. In addition to other grant monies, the bank raised $30,000. The total sum of money is being distributed to seven agencies across the state.
"Employees at the bank see the impact of our customers as they came through the drive-thru and things like that," People's State Bank of Wausau CEO Scott Cattanach said. "So as a company we wanted to try to get together and do something where we could contribute, even outside of our customer base and do something for the community."
The $13,000 donation almost sets the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin at their goal of $500,000.
"The grants are going to organizations in our community in Marathon County that are the most vulnerable during this time,” Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin President/CEO Jean Tehan said.
