WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW)-- Three Wausau area organizations are making seeds available for people to use for planting as part of a volunteer project.
The United Way of Marathon County, Fork Farms and Hsu's Growing are encouraging people to do this as way of social distancing.
People that take part in the project will plant the seeds in April, take care of them in May, and then deliver them to a local food pantry or community garden in June.
The seeds include lettuce, basil, and other vegetables as long as supplies last.
The information on how to get seeds sent to you can be found here.
Containers such as used egg cartons, Dixie cups, and plastic food containers can be used for planting, and potting soil, top soil, or dirt will work for starting seeds.
The Neighbor's Place and Bridge Clinic's Community Garden will take the plants as donations for their gardens this summer.
