(WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Humane Society removed 95 cats from a home in Wisconsin.
The agency says some of the animals were hiding in holes in the walls and ceiling.
Staff members removed those cats from a house in Racine County.
Some of the animals they found were dead.
This was the Humane Society's largest-ever private surrender in Racine County.
"It's really important to recognize that hoarding animals is a mental illness and where there is animal suffering there is human suffering, so we really work to support the individuals and the families involved in such cases to make sure they're provided with resources as well," said Angela Speed from the Humane Society.
Some of the rescued cats have already been adopted. Others are still being treated before they can go to a new home.
