UPDATE: The Rhinelander School District is responding to sex assault allegations involving two students

Superintendent Kelli Jacobi said in a statement; "This was not a random incident, as both students went into the bathroom voluntarily. The male student will no longer be able to be on school grounds, and the gender neutral bathroom is no longer available to students."

She also added that the parents of the students involved were notified, and since it was not a random incident or threat they did not notify all parents.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(WAOW) -- Austin Sauer was arrested Thursday for an alleged sexual assault that occurred at Rhinelander High School (RHS), according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department.

Sauer, an 18-year-old RHS student, was taken into custody for child enticement, exposing genitals, and fourth-degree sexual assault, which Captain Terri Hook said took place in the school's gender-neutral bathroom.

Fourth-degree sexual assault is defined as, "sexual contact with a person without the consent of that person," according to state statute 940.225.

Sauer was released on a $1,500 signature bond.

The gender-neutral bathroom at RHS is currently closed.
