WAUSAU (WAOW) -- A former D.C. Everest teacher, Travis Greil, was charged with 39 felony counts on Friday. Those charges include sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography.
During Greil's initial appearance the courtroom was filled with D.C. Everest parents and students.
Amber Boersma was there with her two kids, both attend D.C. Everest.
"It's showing the gravity of what he has done and it's probably bringing light to a lot more than what was initially thought," Boersma said about the charges.
When Boersma initially found out about the allegations that Greil was taking videos up girls' skirts, she said she was angry and frustrated.
"You're supposed to trust the teachers that are teaching your kids. There should be no issues there," she said.
In total, the criminal complaint against Greil list 20 victims. Each instance listed is eerily similar. Court documents alleged Greil would call a female victim over to his desk where a video device would be set up to film up the victim's skirt.
Boersma hopes a strong showing of parents and students in court sends a clear message.
"I think it's important to stand up if something has happened to you that's wrong. You show that person that they didn't win," she said.
Greil is set to appear back in court on March 16th for a preliminary hearing.
Last week the district reached a resignation agreement with him.
