WAUSAU (WAOW)-- Kreger's Bakery & Deli in Wausau continues it's Fat Tuesday tradition of making Paczki and King Cakes, selling out in hours upon opening.
The Fat Tuesday favorite Packzi are fruit-filled Polish pastries traditionally enjoyed on the last day of Mardi Gras.
The sweet treat, coming in six different flavors ranging from prune to apricot, has been sold at Kreger's on Fat Tuesday since the bakery opened its doors in 1962.
With just two bakers and three helpers this year, the bakery sold 90 dozen Paczki in two and half hours.
"They're happy and on their way. (They) call back and tell us how good they are, most of them, and it's a great feeling or I wouldn't be doing this for so many years," said Tina Kreger, owner of Kreger's Bakery & Deli.
And if you couldn't get your hands on Kreger's Packzi, they will be sold throughout the Lenten season.
