WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) -- With the 7th congressional district primary just around the corner, News 9's Sarah McGrew is sitting down with the candidates to talk about important issues here in North Central Wisconsin.
Lawrence Dale is one of two Democratic candidates in the race. He described himself as an Independent Democrat.
When it comes to issues farmers have faced, Dale said oversupply is to blame.
"In Canada, their farmers, their dairy farmers in particular, have a supply management program, a supply management policy that corrects that problem... as your congressman what I plan to do is gather some support from others to put a moratorium on any further expansion on these industrial daries [sic]," Dale said.
He said he would have the biggest impact in the dairy sector if elected.
Dale supports universal background checks. And when it comes to healthcare, he said he'd like to see a medicare for all system.
News 9 also sat down with the other Democratic candidate Tricia Zunker, as well as Republican candidates Jason Church and Tom Tiffany.
The special election primary will take place with the Spring Primary on Feb. 18. Also on that ballot is the state Supreme Court race as well as local races.
