STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW)-- The League of Woman Voters celebrated its 100th anniversary at an event in Stevens Point Thursday evening.
The celebration included a proclamation from the Portage County executive that celebrated the founding of the organization.
The group was created just six months before the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
"We are a non-partisan political organization… provide education for knowing about candidates, how you vote, where you vote and organizing and getting people out to vote," said Carrie Diamond, with the League of Women Voters in the Stevens Point Area.
Around a dozen people attended the event.
