AMHERST, Wis. (WAOW)-- A dinner was held Thursday evening to show appreciation for Wisconsin farmers.

Attendees were able to enjoy a free meal, while receiving information about stress management, monitoring finances and succeeding as a farm.

The Portage County Extension and the Mike Biadasz Farm Safety Fund hosted the dinner.

More than 100 farmers attended the event.

"I hope that they know that we love them, we appreciate everything that they do and without them, we wouldn't eat 365 days a year or have clothing," said Debra Helbach, who is with the Portage Co. 4-H Leaders Association. " They're a vital part of our community."

The Biadasz Family was named Hometown Heroes in Madison earlier this week for the work they do in promoting farm safety.
