WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) -- Monday morning, 7th Congressional District Democratic candidate Tricia Zunker held a press conference in Wausau.
During the press conference, Zunker touched on issues revolving around healthcare and small businesses, adding President Trump broke promises on both issues.
Zunker says, "Our small businesses are hurt by our healthcare practices with these insurance plans that they have to take that are just skyrocketing out of control."
"This is an important issue that we can solve we can address this in a meaningful way, but it takes electing the right people to the seat to do that," she added.
7th Congressional District Republican candidate Tom Tiffany, who will attend the Trump event Monday night in Rib Mountain, released the following statement on Zunker's comments:
“Democrats have continually broken their promises on healthcare. Obamacare was not affordable and you didn’t get to keep your plan. Now, they want 'Medicare for All,’ which would decimate the program, force people off employer-based insurance and result in Medicare for none. I stand with President Trump and his efforts to bring more competition, choice and transparency into healthcare to lower costs and improve outcomes.”
Democratic candidate Lawrence Dale declined to comment on Lara Trump's visit but, in terms of healthcare, he said in a statement: "I support Bernie Sanders Medicare for All plan ... we need to cover those 87 million Americans currently with no insurance or lack adequate coverage."
Jason Church also weighed in with a statement, saying: "As a veteran, I've seen socialized medicine and the inefficiencies it creates firsthand at the VA ... I still regularly have to go to the VA to get the materials I need, as if to prove I don't have them."
