The gatherings take place Wednesday mornings in the Crossview Church in Wisconsin Rapids from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
“We have about 100 people who show up,” Bill Haack Said. “That really makes you feel good, you know. ”
At the urging of his daughter, Vietnam veteran Walter Sosin decided to check it out.
“I went three years ago and I haven’t missed one since,” Walter Sosin said.
The volunteers who serve coffee and food donated by by area businesses say they look forward to their weekly ritual.
“It is a lot of friendship– mental therapy and they share stories about their time overseas and what they’ve experienced her,” the Director of the Lowell Senior Center Joan Kranig explained.
Haack is glad he brought the idea to veterans in Central Wisconsin.
“Being a part of it makes you feel good and it gives you a feeling of satisfaction,” Hack said.
