WAUSAU (WAOW)-- Woodson YMCA locations host holiday work out programs on Christmas Eve benefiting the Humane Society of Marathon County.
The YMCA in Wausau, and Aspirus YMCA in Weston are participating in the holiday inspired program.
Wausau's location program is called 'Reindeer Games' blending partnered cardio exercises with strength training.
"It’s a Santa approved workout, and the first part of the workout is going to be partner activities. So if you come with a family member or a friend, it makes it a lot easier to get through the workout when you have that partner pushing you," said Pinsonneault.
The Weston location is hosting a 'Holiday HIIT Zen' program that involves both cardio and yoga.
For those participating they just ask to provide something to benefit a furry friend including pet food, treats, cleaning supplies, or cat litter.
"It's a great way to give back to our community by donating to the humane society. And a great way to burn those extra calories before the gluttony begins," said Sara Pinsonneault, Aspirus Health and Wellness Director.
Workouts are open to all community members 12-years or older. Both beginning at 9:00 a.m. and end at 10 a.m.
