Area DECA students coordinate a fundraiser for a boy, named Lucas, from Schofield. Lucas was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and was matched with the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Foundation.

Lucas made the wish to attend the Brewers spring training in Phoenix, in March. Wausau West and DC Everest DECA, along with various local businesses are working to raise $6,900 to fully fund his wish.

There will be various initiatives in honor of Lucas at the boys and girls basketball double-header between Wausau West and D.C. Everest, on Friday, Dec. 20.

Lucas and his family will be attending the game. During each halftime, Lucas will be introduced. Lucas will be surprised will a special video letting the crowd know about Lucas's wish.

Between the games, there will be a free throw competition between DCE and West students. Eight local businesses have offered to sponsor this competition, donating $10 for every basket that is made in 3 minutes up to $250.

The girl's game will start at 6 p.m. and the boy's game will be at 7:45 p.m.

If you are not able to attend either game but would like to donate to Lucas's wish, you can mail a donation to Wausau West, 1200 W. Wausau Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401 or D.C. Everest. High, 6500 Alderson Street, Schofield, WI 54476.
