WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW)-- The Ginseng Board of Wisconsin is holding its Gold Standard Days event.
The three-day event started on Wednesday and continues through Friday, December 6. The board decided to have the event after not having the ginseng festival this year.
There are over 100 attendees from eight different countries coming to a state that grows 95% of the United States ginseng.
"Educate those who weren't familiar with Wisconsin ginseng we have some buyers here who purchase Canadian ginseng and now they're here looking at Wisconsin ginseng so it's a way for the board to continue to market and educate others about the value of Wisconsin ginseng since it's considered the gold standard," said Jackie Fett who is the executive director of the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin.
"They seem excited, some of these guys it's their first time here they like the hands-on they can see the root firsthand versus us sending samples so it gives them an opportunity to actually see where we grow the root and meet us personally one on one," said Joe Heil who has been a ginseng grower for over 20 years.
Both Jackie and Joe hope that Gold Standard Days becomes an annual event.
