This weeks athlete of the week is Edgar girls basketball point guard Makenna Guden.
The Wildcats are 3-0 to start their season and Guden is a big reason for that.
Guden scored 32 points against Oewn-Withee to open the season, the most points scored in a game by a player in Division 5 so far this year.
"She's just a baller," said Betty Urmanski, Edgar Girls Basketball Head Coach. "She is defensively, offensively, she creates opportunities for herself and works her teammates in the game as well. That's going to make her successful because other teams can't just focus on her."
"It's pretty awesome, but I wouldn't be able to do it without my teammates," Guden said. "I can't do it without them passing me the ball and allowing me to get open, so obviously, it's not just me it's my teammates too."
Guden not only excels at basketball, but many other sports too.
"Cross country, volleyball, track, and I did a lot of softball in the past," Guden said.
All of these sports improve her ability to play her favorite: basketball.
"Track, you're working for speed, so that works for basketball," Guden said. "Cross country, getting endurance to run up and down the court in basketball, so that really helps. Everything benefits every sport when you're an overall, well-rounded athlete."
