(WAOW) -- 2019 marked another successful year for the Festival of Trees, but this year's event achieved that like no previous year, as Aspirus Health says this year's event set a record.
The event blew past their $200,000 fundraising goal by an additional $23,000.
Thousands of guests attended the Festival of Trees event during the week of Thanksgiving. Guests viewed 125-holiday trees, wreaths, mantels, and specialty items at Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center in Rothschild, which were donated by people in the community for a raffle and silent auction.
Fund Development Specialist Kim Smerda said, “We are proud to announce that, together with our community and the Festival of Trees Committee, $223,000 was raised!”
“We are grateful for the support of businesses, individuals, and volunteers who helped make this community fundraising event a success, and we could not do it without them,” added Smerda.
Proceeds from the special spectacle will help support Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, including two beds for people in financial need.
“This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Aspirus' Comfort Care and Hospice Services," said Kalynn Pempek, executive director of the Aspirus Health Foundation and Volunteer Services. "Aspirus is grateful to our community for their partnership in providing compassionate end-of-life care and support through the Festival of Trees.”
