Post snow woes in Central Wisconsin
MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) — From driving conditions to supplies, the weekend’s snow caused issues in Central Wisconsin.
Wisconsin State Patrol officers said they responded to nine crashes, seven runoffs, and 11 motorists assists from Friday to Saturday in the north-central region.
Many stores in the area also had trouble keeping shelves stocked. Dave Huth, the store manager at Ace Hardware in Weston, said he orders extra ice melter this year since it flew off the shelves so fast last year. But this year it’s shovels, they’re having trouble keeping on the shelves.
“Shovels have moved unusually fast this year because of the heavy snow that we had just recently. And we had one storm after the other, so of course the need there was much greater than what we normally see at this time of the year,” said Huth.
Huth said roof rakes are also going especially fast this year. He expects another shipment of supplies to come by Wednesday.
