Rhinelander Police Department to accept K9 in memory of fallen officer

RHINELANDER, Wis. (WAOW) — The Rhinelander Police Department’s newest K9 addition will carry on the legacy of a fallen Everest Metro Police detective, according to a press release.

Per the release, Detective Jason Weiland’s family, along with Crossroads K-9, will hand over K9 Jason to officer Mark Raddatz of the Rhinelander Police Department in an acceptance ceremony Wednesday.

Detective Weiland was killed in the line of duty during the March 22, 2017 shooting spree in the Wausau area that left the local community reeling.

News 9 will have a crew at the ceremony.
