WAUSAU (WAOW) – A non-profit aims to raise awareness about how dogs help veterans.
Patriot K9s of Wisconsin offers service dog training for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
“There are 500,00 not even diagnosed,” Sara Thuot of Patriot K9s said. “We want to reach them.”
Veterans are paired with their own dog or a shelter pup.
“We are in a nationwide study,” Thuot explained. “It’s showing a 95% turnaround rate.”
Patriot K9s will present the documentary “To Be of Service” at the Grand Theater.
It follows the lives of five veterans and their service dogs.
The documentary begins at 2 p.m.on Sunday.
There is no admission fee.
