Chilly weather continues but not much snow

Today: Increasing clouds and still cold.
High: 27 Wind: SW 5-15

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a chance of light snow, mainly north of Wausau.
Low: 24 Wind: South-Southwest around 10

Saturday: Mostly cloudy and a bit milder. A few flurries or sprinkles possible.
High: 37 Wind: West 5-10

More chilly weather is on the way for today and early next week but not much snow is in the forecast. If you are hoping for some milder weather, it looks like the pattern will change a bit late next week.

The clouds will increase today and that will keep temperatures from rising too far. It will feel like Winter again with highs only in the mid to upper 20s. Southwest winds will develop at 5 to 15 mph.

A warm front moving through the area tonight will produce a chance of light snow in the northern half of the area, mainly north of Wausau. It will also keep the temperatures from falling too far. Low temps will remain in the 20s. Any snow that develops will be less than an inch. The milder trend will then continue into Saturday as the mercury rises into the mid to upper 30s. Skies will remain mostly cloudy on Saturday and a chance of light snow will develop in the evening. Once again is does not look like much will accumulate. It will likely be less than an inch.

An arctic cold front will blow in from the north on Sunday and this will start to usher in much colder air once again. Highs on Sunday will be around 30 early in the day, but then fall to around 20 by late afternoon. It will become breezy and there will likely be a few flakes of snow in the air. The only locations that could see more significant snow are in the Northwoods – north of highway 8 – where lake effect snow will develop and continue through Monday. A few inches could fall in spots.

The arctic air will be entrenched in Northcentral Wisconsin Monday and Tuesday. High temps will be in the low 20s. Low temps will be in the single digits. On both days there should be more sun than clouds. A weak weather system will bring a chance of light snow later Wednesday into Thursday morning and then the weather should turn milder with highs in the 30s late next week.
