High: 39 Wind: WNW 5-10
Tonight: Cloudy with a 60% chance of snow by evening, continuing overnight. A dusting to an inch from Wausau to the northwest, 1-3” to the southeast.
Low: 25 Wind: WNW 5-10
Cooler today with light snow expected tonight.
Clouds moved into the area yesterday evening behind a cold front, and skies will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day today. Highs will only top out in the upper 30s to low 40s. A disturbance will move through the area tonight, bringing light snow into the region after 8 pm and exiting before sunrise Tuesday. Around an inch or so of snow is expected around Wausau, with lesser amounts farther to the northwest and 1-3 inches to the southeast. The higher totals around 3” will be most likely around the Dells and Waushara counties. This could make roads slippery for the Tuesday morning commute.
The snow will be out of the area by Tuesday and we’ll see decreasing clouds throughout the day with highs around 40. A mix of sun and clouds is expected Wednesday and it’ll be chilly in the mid to upper 30s. We’re continuing to track the potential for a stronger area of low pressure to move through the area on Halloween (Thursday), but the latest model trends have shifted the track of this system farther to the east. There will still be a 40% chance of snow in the afternoon and evening from Wausau southeastward, but areas northwest of Wausau may stay dry.
Scattered snow showers are expected across the northern half of the area on Friday with lingering cloud cover and highs in the mid 30s. A few snow showers will be possible on Saturday and Sunday as well with highs in the mid to upper 30s.
