Seasonal temps return to start the weekend, but much cold air moves in for next week.
After a cold start around the area this morning, temps rose into the mid 40s with abundant sunshine this afternoon thanks to a high pressure system. This system will keep skies mostly clear tonight into Saturday, but winds won’t completely calm down tonight so temps won’t be as cold, only falling into the upper 20s to low 30s. The sunshine will gradually become more filtered Saturday afternoon east and southeast of Wausau as a low pressure system tracks from central Illinois into Lower Michigan Saturday night. It’ll be close enough that area east and southeast of Wausau will see a chance of some light rain, but it’ll move out by Sunday morning. Highs Saturday will warm into the low 50s and stay above freezing Saturday night, so no snow is expected.
A good mix of sun and clouds is expected Sunday, but we should be dry throughout the day with temps a couple of degrees cooler in the upper 40s to around 50. Cooler weather will move into the area on Monday with highs in the upper 40s to around 40 with a mix of sun and clouds once again. A low pressure system will track into the Great Lakes region Monday night, bringing a chance for some light snow, but there are still a good amount of uncertainties in the track of this system. Any lingering snow Tuesday morning will start to mix/change over to rain as the system pulls away. We’ll dry out Tuesday afternoon with highs only in the mid to upper 30s.
Cold weather will be in place for Wednesday with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 30s. Expect mid 30s for highs on Halloween as well, with an isolated chance of snow showers. Lingering snow showers and highs in the 30s will continue on Friday.
