We have experienced our fair share of dreary Fall days over the last couple of years and today will be another one. Later this week the weather will dry up and temps should warm up by the weekend.
You can expect off-and-on light rain and drizzle throughout this Tuesday. With the clouds and damp weather, high temps will remain fairly steady in the low to mid 40s so keep your warmer jacket handy. In addition to the cool temps there will be a stiff breeze out of the west today. The highest wind will be in the southern part of the area. South of Stevens Point, the wind could gust over 40 mph at times. The wind will be much lighter in the Northwoods, only around 10 to 20 mph. The patchy rain could mix with a few flakes of snow this evening, but there should not be much accumulation.
Tomorrow another weaker storm system will pass through the southern third of the state during the afternoon and this could bring a few light showers around Stevens Point or farther south. The rest of the area should be dry and cool with mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s.
Finally on Thursday we should see the sun break out a bit more but it will be a bit chilly with highs in the low 40s. With more clearing in the skies, low temps by Friday morning could drop into the 20s for our first hard freeze of the season. Otherwise Friday should be decent with mostly sunny skies and high temps in the 40s.
The weather will turn a little breezy once again for Saturday but it will also be milder. We should have sunny to partly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid 50s. The weather should be fairly mild again on Sunday but there will be more clouds. A cold front moving in from the west will produce the clouds and there is even a small chance of rain as a low pressure system also moves up from the south toward Wisconsin.
Have a very nice Tuesday! Meteorologist Justin Loew, 4:30 a.m. 22-October-2019
