WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — Construction continues to progress in Wausau as a number of streets in the city are set to open as early as next week.
The portion of Townline Road, from Grand Avenue to Camp Phillips Road, started back in May. Now, community members will be able to enjoy the new road by Wednesday.
It was a project seven years in the making. Although the street may look ready to drive on now, city officials say they’re working on the finishing touches.
“We completed the asphalt, but we still need to get the striping down before we can open it,” Allen Wesolowski Wausau City Engineer Allen Wesolowski said. I hope people understand that it may look done, but it’s not really done until we get the striping down.
Other projects, such as Thomas Street and South First Avenue, are also reaching their completions. Both are tentatively slated to re-open in early to mid-November, but a crucial element city officials want to remind drivers of is that all projected completion dates are weather-dependent.
