The morning cloud cover was followed by increasing afternoon sunshine from northern into central parts of the area. Highs ranged from the mid 40s to low 50s with light west to northwest winds.
After a clear to partly cloudy, quiet, and cool night, southeast winds will become breezy Friday, leading to a milder afternoon, along with some increase in clouds as a weak wave of low pressure approaches from the Plains. The system will pass through Friday night and Saturday, with scattered showers overnight into the morning and peeks of sunshine during the afternoon. The rest of the weekend will be dry and mild.
A stronger low pressure system will bring mild southerly winds and showers Sunday night and Monday, along with possible thunderstorms. The passage of a cold front will lead to a blustery and cooler day Tuesday, with scattered showers. The cooler trend will linger through the end of the week.
Another chance of showers will arrive late Wednesday into Thursday.
The National Weather Service has issued the preliminary winter outlook, which calls for higher than average precipitation for our region, with no clear temperature trend.
