Medical helicopter called to Athens farm

ATHENS, Wis. (WAOW) – An Athens man is in the hospital recovering after being run over by his own tractor Thursday afternoon.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department reports the man, only identified as a 54-year-old from Athens, was working on a tractor in his home off of County Road H.

Around 2:45pm, for an unknown reason, the tractor moved, and the man was run over by the tractor.

The Sheriff’s Department says the man, though injured, was able to call 911 himself, and was alert, conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived.

As a precaution, first responders requested a life-flight helicopter to take him to the hospital.

His condition is not known at this time.
