Wisconsin Rapids Common Council bans feeding waterfowl on public property

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW)– The Wisconsin Rapids Common Council unanimously voted on Tuesday evening to approve a ban on feeding waterfowl on public property.

The ordinance previously passed the Legislative Committee in September.

It now goes into effect immediately.

City council members previously told News 9 the goose waste presents a health hazard to the public and needs to be aggressively cleaned from the parks before the Fourth of July.

Signs will be posted in the parks warning people against feeding the birds. People caught feeding the waterfowl will be issued a citation.

People are still however allowed to feed the birds that are at the Wisconsin Rapids Zoo.
