Wisconsin (WAOW) – A self-employed insurance broker and Vietnam veteran has announced his intent to run as a Democrat for Sean Duffy’s vacant congressional seat.
Lawrence Dale, who currently lives in Michigan, is planning to move back to Central Wisconsin (possibly the Merrill area), according to his campaign manager.
In the announcement released Monday morning, Dale’s main running platforms include universal healthcare, a focus on conservation of natural resources and fighting climate change.
From the release, in part: “I am running because this is a critical time in our nation’s history. The policies of the Trump Administration are endangering our democracy and the principals upon which our country was founded. We must defeat the Trump Administration and its corruption at the polls in this special election and again in November and restore the strength of our democratic institutions.”
Dale is also seeking local community input in terms of what issues are important to the WI 7th Congressional District via a survey, which can be found on his website.
Dale has a Masters in Industrial and Labor Relations from the University of Oregon.
Dale is the first Democrat to announce their intent to run for a seat formerly held by Republican Sean Duffy.
