One more mild day then turning much colder.
It was another fantastic day across north central Wisconsin with plenty of sunshine and mild temps in the upper 60s to low 70s. I hope you were able to get out and enjoy it, because we may not have another sunny day like this for well over a week. Clouds will start to move into the area tonight, and while we may have some peeks of sun Thursday, it’ll be mainly cloudy with temps in the mid to upper 60s. Breezy southeast winds should keep enough dry air in place to hold off any rain until the evening hours, with some rumbles of thunder possible overnight. Lows will be mild in the upper 50s.
It’ll be mild to start the day Friday, with highs around 60 degrees in the morning, but a strong and sharp cold front will move through the area around midday and quickly drop temperatures into the 40s during the afternoon. Rain will be most prevalent through the morning hours, then gradually lighten up/taper off through the afternoon. It will be blustery with winds gusting over 30 mph. We should see a break from the precipitation Friday night, but temps will drop towards the freezing mark around the area.
This low pressure system will sit and spin to our north through the weekend, keeping mostly cloudy skies, breezy winds, and cold temperatures in place. Scattered rain showers are likely on Saturday, mixing with snow at times during the evening and overnight hours. Rain/snow showers will continue on Sunday, mainly from Wausau northward. There could be some small wet snow accumulation in the Northwoods through Sunday night. Highs this weekend will be in the upper 30s to around 40 degrees.
There may be a lingering rain/snow shower early in the day in the far north Monday morning, otherwise expect mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 40s. Another weak disturbance may touch off a few isolated showers Tuesday, otherwise it’ll be mostly cloudy and in the mid to upper 40s. More sunshine should mix with the clouds on Wednesday.
