KENOSHA, Wis. (WISN) — Police have announced two arrests in a May fatal shooting outside Cheddar’s in Pleasant Prairie.
Investigators said Shawn M. Amelio Sr., 44, of Kenosha, and his 19-year-old daughter, Christina Amelio, were charged Tuesday.
Khaled Alchaar, 19, of Pleasant Prairie, was found dead May 20 of a gunshot wound in the restaurant’s parking lot.
According to police, Shawn Amelio told investigators he accompanied his daughter as she delivered marijuana to Alchaar.
During the drug deal inside Shawn Amelio’s car, investigators said Alchaar showed what appeared to be a gun and said he was robbing the two.
Investigators said Alchaar ran away with the marijuana from Christina Amelio.
According to police, Shawn Amelio got out of his car and shot at Alchaar as Alchaar ran from the scene.
Shawn and Christina Amelio left the scene, police said, and found out later on social media that Alchaar had been shot and killed.
He was pronounced dead at Froedtert South Hospital.
An autopsy determined Alchaar died from a gunshot wound to the back.
According to a criminal complaint, detectives found 32 grams of marijuana under a car at the scene.
Police said the drug deal was organized through Snapchat messages.
Shawn Amelio told investigators he shot Alchaar in self-defense, the criminal complaint said.
Investigators said they found marijuana, THC vape cartridges, cash and guns while serving a search warrant at the Amelio house.
Shawn Amelio was charged with four counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with a deadly weapon and one count each of second-degree reckless homicide with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to deliver THC and obstructing an officer.
