Two dead after truck versus truck accident near Nekoosa

WOOD CO., Wis. (WAOW) – Two people were killed Wednesday morning and two others injured after a truck-on-truck collision near Nekoosa.

Wisconsin State Patrol says the accident happened at approximately 10:28AM Wednesday.

The accident happened near the intersection of highways 173 and GG.

At the time, the Wood County Highway Department was on 173 doing repairs.

The driver of a box truck, travelling east, moved into the westbound lane of traffic to avoid road crews. That’s when police say they struck a dump truck travelling west.

Both drivers were killed at the scene, and the only occupants of either vehicle.

The box truck driver is only identified as a 45 year old from Custer, WI while the dump truck was driven by a 57 year old male from Wisconsin Rapids.

The investigation is ongoing.
