Bike share program launches in Wausau

WAUSAU (WAOW) — A new bike share program has launched in Wausau.

The program launched earlier this week with the first station being installed at Riverlife Park. A second station is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks on the opposite side of the park.

The city hopes to eventually have a network of stations.

“If we were able to have a network of stations throughout the city, it could serve commuting purposes and broader transportation purposes as well. That would be the ultimate goal,” said Brad Sippel, Wausau Assistant Planner.

The bikes are accessed through the ‘Zagster’ app or on their website.

The app offers a membership for $30 per year with unlimited one-hour bike rides, and a ‘pay as you go’ option that costs a dollar for every half-hour of riding.
