WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — October is domestic violence awareness month.
In an effort to help spread awareness throughout the Central Wisconsin, The Women’s Community (TWC) held their 16th annual block party. The block party was free to anyone in the community, with food, games, face painting and even the chance to check out the inside of an ambulance and police car as this year TWC partnered with first responders.
“Kids in homes where there’s abuse are sometimes they’re told that not to call the police, when thing bad things are happening at home the police are there to help them and keep everybody in the house safe,” said Jane Graham Jennings, executive director for TWC.
The block party also awarded 3 people for all of their efforts to spread awareness and help out people and families in our community.
