WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — Each year Wausau Events hosts Harvest Fest as a way to bring the community together and celebrate the kick off of fall while helping out local organizations.
Saturday morning, families stopped by the Wausau Center Mall to pick pumpkins, take pictures in a photo booth, get your face painted and much more.
Wausau Events mission is to create community through events, but executive director Madison Nowak said its more than that, “we obviously want everyone to have that fall experience and get a pumpkin but we feel its really important to contribute to other organizations in the area that need help.”
One organization that was a big part of the fest was Peyton’s Promise (PP). P.P. has been partnering with Wausau Events and The Neighbors Place for Harvest Fest since 2014. P.P. collects food and monetary donations to give to local food pantries.
This year P.P. raised over $700 in monetary donations, and just about 2,500 lbs. worth of non-perishable food items.
This years Harvest Fest was a success as the pumpkin patch ran out of pumpkins.
