Two in connection with Wausau shooting make initial court appearances

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — New details surfaced in Marathon County Court in a Wausau shooting incident that hospitalized a 16-year-old.

Kaiden Bemowski, 20, and the mother of the 16-year-old victim appeared in court Friday afternoon.

In a press release, Wausau Police Department said, the shooting stemmed from a drug-related confrontation between Kaiden Bemowski and a 16-year-old male victim early Thursday morning.

According to Wausau police, the 16-year-old’s mom was driving him to sell the drugs to Bemowski. They add that Bemowski and a 14-year-old girl were planning to rob the 16-year-old, when Bemowski fired a round from a handgun.

It is believed that the round grazed and concussed the 16-year-old in the side of the head, officials say. Additionally, the teen’s mother attempted to run over Bemowski, who fired another shot at the car.

The teen’s mother faces multiple drug charges. Both she and Bemowkski are being held on $50,000, or 10% of $500,000 bond, and will next appear in court September 20.
