Packers to sit starters, play on shortened field in Canada

The Packers will rest a total of 33 players, including all their starters, Thursday night in Winnipeg.

They’ll also play their game against the Raiders on a shortened field. That’s according to the Packers TV Network.

This comes after patches in each end zone caused concerns about field conditions. The patches are used to cover the spot where the Canadian Football League goalposts normally sit.

Executives from both teams could be seen before the game assessing the field, while crews tried to patch it up.

The third preseason game is normally referred to as the dress rehearsal for the regular season. Head Coach Matt LaFleur had said Aaron Rodgers would be a gametime decision for the game. He’s one of the 33 not suiting up.

That likely means Rodgers will not take any snaps in a preseason game this year.
