WAUSAU (WAOW) — As kids get ready to go back to school, so do their teachers.
At the WIRED Conference in Wausau on Wednesday, teachers from around the area came together to learn about using technology in the classroom.
“We’re always looking to see how can we take an effective instructional strategy and improve it through the use of technology,” said Jon Euting, the Director of Technology with the Wausau School District.
Through hands-on-learning and teacher led seminars, teachers from Wausau, D.C. Everest, Mosinee and other school districts were able to share how the use technology in the classroom.
The ultimate goal is to make sure students have multiple ways to dive deeper into topics and showcase their learning.
“What’s new is giving kids more choices,” said Euting. “So instead of saying here’s the assignment, here’s the worksheet, it’s here’s the thing that you really need to show me. You can create a video, you can create a drawing, you can write about it, you can create a podcast.”
The conference continues on Thursday at Northcentral Technical College.
Organizers said it’s open to all educators in the area and you don’t need to pre-register to attend.
