Stevens Point (WAOW) — Gary McDonald, who reached a plea deal for arson, will spend two years in prison.
He was also sentenced to spend one year in the local jail, however has already been in for 355 days giving him credit toward that sentence.
Court documents say McDonald set three fires inside a home. Police say one of those fires started was on a bed where people were sleeping.
Investigators say McDonald got gasoline from a garage poured it on the bed and set it on fire before starting the two other fires.
Four people lived inside the home, however they were able to put out the flames.
McDonald was originally charged with attempted homicide, however those were dismissed in a plea deal. A Judge found McDonald guilty of recklessly endangering safety and arson.
McDonald will spend 5 years on extended supervision. If he violates his terms he would spend an additional three years in prison, according to court records.
