Wittenberg-Birnamwood Area Youth Football will scrimmage at halftime of the Packers, Texans preseason game on Thursday.
“It’s a very rare opportunity,” Chargers tight end Nicholas Flak said. “I think it’s going to be a lot of fun; a good experience for the whole team.”
A once in a lifetime opportunity–a chance to walk out of the tunnel at Lambeau Field.
“It was awesome when I figured out I was one of the luckiest kids to play at Lambeau Field,” Chargers running back Sam Anheuser said.
The Packers reached out to Head Coach Greg Flak three weeks ago. Flak did not think he would receive that phone call for years.
“We were pretty much over the moon with that quite honestly,” Greg said. “I am very happy to be able to participate in it this year, to be able to coach these boys and take them to Green Bay and do something that they’ll probably remember for the rest of their lives.”
The Pee Wees and Junior Pee Wees get to play under the lights in front of 80,000 people.
“It’s going to be exciting because I always played in such small crowds and it’s going to be so big and loud…it’s going to be fun,” Chargers running back Ben Miller said.
The best part: they’ll be right in the presence of their heroes, the Green Bay Packers.
“I think that will be really cool,” Nicholas said. “It is all of our dreams…just to even see it close…the Packers.”
Kickoff for the Green Bay vs. Houston game is set for 7 p.m.
