Wausau (WAOW) — The Wausau Center Mall is up for sale, according to the city’s economic development director.
Currently, Rialto Capital Management owns the building.
Numerous stores have left the mall over the last couple of years, including the anchor stores Sears, JCPenney and Younkers.
The owner of the mall is currently accepting bids, while no price has been listed.
Christian Shock, the economic development director, says the city is looking forward to moving forward.
“I could see within the next couple weeks to months kind of them making the decision again it is their decision it’s not something the city needs to decide upon but we’ve been pushing them in that direction” Shock said.
He adds that he thinks there’s opportunities to take the mall in different directions. Among those possible directions he says are housing, hospitality, and entertainment.
