Amphibious plane makes emergency landing near Prairie du Chien
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN (WKOW) — A pilot and his dog were safely rescued after the amphibious plane the man was flying made an emergency landing in the Mississippi River.
Richard Schuch of Gays Mills was flying the plane near Prairie du Chien about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when the plane began having engine trouble, according to a police Facebook post.
The Prairie du Chien Police Department responded to the area of the Villa Louis Boat landing and found the plane in the water about 400 yards from the shore.
The Prairie du Chien Fire Department launched its search and rescue boat and firemen were able to assist with pulling the plane to shore.
No injuries were caused as a result of the incident, and Schuch and his dog were recovered safely.
