Cool, damp, and breezy weather is in the area once again, but it won’t last too long. Conditions should warm up just in time for the weekend.
You might need a light jacket once again for today and tomorrow as some cooler air develops over the region once again. We will see skies become mostly cloudy for today with winds becoming northwest at 10 to 20 mph, gusting to 25 mph at times. In addition to the clouds there will likely be some patchy drizzle and sprinkles at times, primarily north of Wausau. High temps will only be in the 50s in the Northwoods and reach the mid 60s south of Marathon county where there could be a few breaks of sun.
The clouds will break up a little tonight and then a warm from moving in from the southwest will bring more clouds into the area once again for Friday. This front will generate some light rain at times and maybe a couple of thunderstorms later in the day on Friday. Rain amount could be a quarter to half inch. With cloudy skies, once again temps will be below normal, topping out in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Finally some warmer air will arrive for the weekend. We should see partly cloudy skies develop on both Saturday and Sunday with high temps reaching the mid to upper 70s on Saturday and the low 70s on Sunday. A weak cold front will be moving in from the north late Saturday through Sunday morning but as of now, it does not look like this front will produce any rain.
Unfortunately it now looks once again like there could be rain on Monday. A low pressure system will be in the Midwest, and in contrast to the forecast from yesterday, it could speed up a bit. Therefore there is now a 40% chance of wet weather on Monday. High temps should be in the 60s, so it won’t be too chilly. High temps will then remain in the mid to upper 60s from Tuesday through Wednesday, with some small chance of rain continuing.
Have a magnificent Thursday! Meteorologist Justin Loew, 4:30 a.m. 23-May-2019
