WIAA Board of Control unanimously approves football-only conference realignment

High school football in Wisconsin will look a bit different in 2020.

The WIAA Board of Control voted 9-0 Tuesday to approve a plan to realign conferences for football only.

The goal of the plan is to provide uniformity with the number of teams in each conference, which will mostly be eight, and the number of conference games each team plays.

Among the major changes in the WAOW viewing area, Wausau East will shift from being independent to joining the VFA-1.

Northland Pines, Tomahawk, Bonduel and Coleman will all join the MONLPC-Small, while Rib Lake/Prentice will join the Lakeland conference.
