MILWAUKEE (WISN) — A billboard offering support for Milwaukee County’s controversial former sheriff, David Clarke, is turning heads on Milwaukee’s south side. It has many wondering, support for what?
WISN 12 News learned that a Washington-based conservative organization called BAMPAC, or Black America’s Political Action Committee, is paying for the billboard.
That group did not immediately return WISN 12 News’ calls.
The company that owns the billboard told WISN 12 News the message is set to stay in their rotation through this weekend at just the one location.
Clarke resigned as Milwaukee County sheriff in 2017 to join a political action committee supporting President Donald Trump.
He recently joined the advisory board of an organization called We Build the Wall.
While Clarke has not responded to WISN 12 News’ request for a comment directly, he did tweet, linking to this article, “Honored. Thank you Black America PAC BAMPAC. Only libs are surprised.”
