MERRILL, Wis. (WAOW) — A homeless center in Merrill is finally about to open.
The Merrill Community Homeless Center is located on Main Street in the central Wisconsin city.
It features eight warming center chairs and four rooms for transitional living.
Those in charge of the operation said they’ve been working on it since October of 2017 and it fills a very real need.
“This is huge for the community,” said the center executive director Theresa Anthoney. “This is something that the community has lacked now for a couple years now since the warming center closed two years ago. And we’ve never had a transitional living center, so this is huge for the community. This is something they desperately need.”
The homeless center is asking for volunteers.
Its grand opening is scheduled for Monday, March 4.
