WEST MILWAUKEE, Wis. — There was confusion Saturday at a West Milwaukee Walmart over the store’s Baby Savings Day event.
“Many of your employees have told us we were lying. That’s very disheartening when mothers are up here trying to get things for their babies, and you are acting as if we are crazy,” a woman said to a store manager.
WISN 12 News was there as expectant mothers faced off with store managers at the Greenfield Avenue and Miller Park Way location over what those moms are calling “false advertising.”
The event was to provide savings of up to 30 percent on dozens of baby items. Select car seats, crib mattresses and more were also to be on rollback in stores and online.
The West Milwaukee store was on the list of locations taking part in the sale.
Parents showed up looking to cash in on deals, but some women told WISN 12 News that none of that was offered at this store.
“Well, I mean, it’s not really going on. Yeah, there is not really like a sale. It’s pretty terrible. Well, this particular location in general (is),” expectant mother Nadia Alzobi said.
As emotions flared, store managers quickly calmed the crowds by slashing prices on items they hand-picked.
Walmart’s corporate office said the supplies at every store differed slightly. That’s why not all stores may have had coupons.
Walmart will have deals on baby products online through Feb. 28 at locations across the country.
