Weather conditions causing dozens of central Wisconsin businesses to close Wednesday

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — The freezing temperatures caused many businesses to shut their doors on Wednesday.

Wausau Mine Company is one of those that are the long list, and the co-owner said it’s just not worth having his employees risk their safety to make it to work.

“It’s just dangerous for our staff to get here. Some of our staff has kids that are going to be home from school,” said Wausau Mine Company co-owner Dan Wage. “I just can’t picture going out in this weather and I can’t picture asking my staff to do it either.”

Here is a list of closings that we are aware of so far:

Crystal Finishing, Clark County Courthouse and all emergency services, Sweet Lola’s, Wausau Mine Company, Rhinelander District Library, Oneida County Government offices, Treu’s Tic Toc Bar and Grill, Daly’s, The Jig, Great Dane Pub, The Ugly Mug, Lane Bryant, Bethesda Thrift Store, all DMV locations, Plover/Rothschild Planet Fitness locations, Athens Country Cafe in Athens, Mosinee’s Woods Equipment Company, Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wittenberg Family Restaurant, Dime and Dollar Thrift Store, all Lands End stores, Wild Steer Diner in Stratford,  Powell Plumbing in Wisconsin Rapids, and all of Wisconsin’s Church Mutual Insurance Companies.
