RACINE, Wis. — The Racine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating how a vehicle ended up in Lake Michigan overnight.
Around 2:15 a.m. 911 calls were made to Racine County dispatch that a vehicle had driven into Lake Michigan at “the Oasis” on the North side of Racine and was floating.
Crews from the Racine County Sheriffs Office and the Racine Police Department searched the area but were not able to locate the vehicle.
The Racine County Water Rescue team was called in and began searching the area around the Pershing Park Boat launch on 5th Street and the vehicle was located at 6:49 a.m.
Divers removed a 30-year-old woman from the vehicle, but they were unable to revive her.
Racine County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate how the vehicle ended up in the water.
